Within the area of Podomoro Golf View Cimanggis – a residential area surrounded by golf courses view and Cikeas river stream – a small gate as the entrance to Coffeeright leads people to an environment where units of prefabricated shelter are placed integrated with the landscape. These units designed by Studio Piu serve as the outdoor seating of Coffeeright, a coffee shop in the Marketing Gallery. The unit resembles a small house where loose chairs and tables are set but also flexible to be rearranged depending on the needs.
Assessing the site comprehensively and carefully, the seating area was calculated and mapped. Not only to achieve organic order for the placement but also to consider the efficiency of the structure.
The light steel structure in white and clear glass gives minimum interruption on visual to surrounding views. The structures are elevated from the ground with a touch of indirect lighting around the floor creating a floating effect and accent to its presence. Some of the structures are semi-open while some of them can be fully enclosed and air-conditioned. Planks of Conwood lay on the structure as roofing thus giving a subtle visual transition between the structure to the environment.
Pebbles are used to create variations on flooring. It defines the space and gives different experiences for the users right before entering the structure. An umbrella stand is also provided in front of each structure as a gesture of detail responding to the possible needs of the users.
This scattered placement of the seating area was aimed to add value to the whole landscape arrangement. By not having a central seating area, visitors will able to have more privacy and also get more impression of the surrounding itself.
