Designed by Erwin Kleinsman Architect and StudioDad (Paul Wolters), Storax installed movable sunshade louvers for the new construction of the Hoffmann Group in Hengelo-Borne, commissioned by Droste Bouwgroep.
The façade design for this sustainable building is based on a simple principle: to bring in as much daylight as possible without direct solar heat. Therefore, Storax equipped all glass façades with Icarus louver sunshades that respond to the current sunlight on the specific façade via a weather station. These louvers prevent the building from heating up, reducing the need for cooling and thus saving energy. Additionally, the louvers contribute to the desired high-tech appearance of the building. Thanks to the sunshade louvers, the building qualifies for a BREEAM "outstanding" rating.
Storax collaborated on the design for this project and handled the engineering, supply, and installation.
