Located in Terras de São José, in Itu (SP), the JR residence, Gilda Meirelles Arquitetura office project, was designed for a couple with children and grandchildren, thinking, mainly, about the leisure it should provide and the possibility of serving as housing.

The land of the residence ends in an admirable forest that coincides with the north face, considered by the architects the best face. The project was conceived in such a way that all environments were facing the forest, generating the feeling that the house was isolated in the middle of the forest.

The large glass frames help in the interconnection between the environments offering a sense of spaciousness and connecting even more the house with its exterior. In addition to the interconnection, the large glass panels allow natural light to enter the house making it even more cozy.

Among the predominant materials designed to assist in the integration of the house with the countryside, are stone, wood and clay tiles. The clients asked the office that the frames be made of aluminum to match the materials used, so the solution employed was to paint them matte brown and fix them on the wood.

The greatest difficulty encountered by the office was the slope of the land, which was solved with the creation of a part on two floors and another ground floor, with the ground level on the middle floor of the house. The highlights of the project are the unevenness that allowed the creation of volumes with different heights and the view of the beautiful forest.

The environment of the leisure area has TV, barbecue, pizza oven and cellar and all these environments were created attached to the body of the house, taking advantage of what is a corner plot was possible to create an independent entrance to these environments. Automation also played an indispensable role in the project, mainly used in social lighting and garden irrigation.
