A Complete Architectural and Sustainability Makeover
After some years a young couple discovered that the house they bought doesn’t match any more with their style and way of living. Together with them we developed a concept for an open space plan, where they can live and he can work. Within the construction framework of the existing house all the small rooms are merged into a living space and a bedroom space on the ground floor and an office on the first floor. The existing windows are enlarged and at the garden façade new sliding windows are added to let as much as possible daylight into the house and optimize the relation between the interior and the garden. On the first floor a marvelous roof terrace next to the office space allows to enjoy the sun in spring and autumn or to have a drink with a friend or client.
To make the house suitable for the future in every sense a sustainability concept is developed. The first step was to supply the house with a new, high quality thermal insulation and new windows. A geothermal heat pump makes the house independent from other energy delivering services. The space saving ClimaLevel Multifloor is an energy-saving combination of underfloor heating, ventilation and cooling system. The climate and air quality in the house are comfortable at all seasons of the year.
The new entrance hall and oak wood staircases are the eye catcher of the interior. The minimalistic designed and detailed staircase and oak wood doors define the character of the space.
The result of the design and transformation process is a very convenient, modern and sustainable house with an autonomous character.
