Realisation D’un Immeuble De Huit Logements Sociaux

CYRIL CHENEBEAU ARCHITECTE 建築家 として

The architectural project is located Avenue du Châtaigner in the vicinity of the city center of Antibes alongside the highway connecting Antibes to Juan les Pins.

The urban environment is quite heterogeneous. It is composed as follows:

In the West and North lies a residential neighborhood made of individual houses and condominiums. In the North is the Mont Saint Jean primary school and on the West side is an old little chapel with community pétanque grounds next to it. In the East is a large community housing on 4 levels (built in the 1970’s).

The field is a slope about 60 meters long and 17 meters large in its narrowest section.

The topography is very steep; its declivity from North (Av du Chataigner) to South (the country road) is over 45% with a difference in level of about 8 meters between these two roads. The architectural structure is the result of the urban and topographical constraints of the site. The building occupies almost the entire authorized ground coverage.

An accurate cross-sectional and leveling work enabled to offer the contracting authority the creation of 8 apartments (4 floors) instead of 6 initially planned by the social landlord. They are distributed on 4 floors above a well- ventilated car-park built in the basement of the building.

The housing units are atypical insofar as the development of the project allowed typologies which offered triple-orientation thus providing very bright accommodations.

Pedestrian access to the building is from the Avenue du Chataigner via a footbridge which spans the void space above the car-park enabling to connect the half-level of the staircase. The staircase winds around the elevator shaft in the middle of the building which connects on the south side a series of covered walkways leading to each one of the housing units. (a 4-room apartment + a 3- room apartment on each floor).
