This residential project has been realised for a professional hockey player and his young family. Parka’s intention was to design a contemporary, minimalist home, with large black windows and white acrylic coating, on a sloping site that offers incredible views of the Parc des Laurentides.
The three-storey house layout includes a garage, a training room, an indoor synthetic surface skating rink and a large kitchen for large receptions. Particular attention has been paid to the windows to maximize the contribution of natural light and to increase the views on the outside panorama. The size of the windows and their jambs at the level of the ground give the impression of inhabiting the outdoors. Living areas at two levels on the main floor emphasise an open-living concept, while the large-scale windows create a sense of transparency throughout the home.
The level of the land has been a technical and structural challenge for the exterior layout and the foundations of the residence. Externally, a wooden path separating the swimming pool area and an open-green space emphasises the shape of the house, while an outdoor kitchen communicates with the inside, allowing the family to use the space year round.
