As the years go by, customs and living arrangements change. Previously, the floor plans of residential apartments were highly compartmentalized, with various separate rooms divided by walls, a room for staff, numerous bathrooms, among other distinctive features. However, increasingly, the newer generations seek more open and connected spaces with fewer obstacles and a lively atmosphere. This is how we conceptualized this renovation project together with the young couple who owns this apartment in the Itaim neighborhood. Located on an ancestral property of 12,800 sqft in central Bangalore (India), Ashford House is built for the new generation where 6 families could reside, enjoying the best of collective living while having their own private spaces. This became the motivating factor for building the material palette and connecting with the existing landscape. The building is oriented in a north-south direction with 2 units planned per level. Situated in the iconic Louvre Building, designed by the São Paulo architect João Artacho Jurado in the 1950s, we proposed the almost complete demolition of the existing masonry in the apartment, reorganizing the space, bringing openness, and adapting the program to contemporary dynamics. We aimed to pay homage to this symbolic building by using its colors in the project's composition. SKOLNICK was retained to completely renovate this apartment, located inthe historic El Dorado building overlooking Central Park and the JacquelineKennedy Onassis Reservoir. This midcentury modern-inspired Riverside Drive Apartment is a combined 2,500-square-foot apartment. It is designed as a home for a family of five that would continue to accommodate the children as they grow older. The apartment renovation transformed the space by relocating the entrance and creating a generous foyer adjacent to the new enlarged kitchen. The apartment is situated in Glyfada, a southern suburb of Athens, Greece. It is a maisonette apartment situated on the last two floors of an apartment building constructed in the early 2000. The main concept was to bring as much light as possible inside reversing its main north orientation, introducing a white veil covering everything to create a harmonious environment. Wooden louvres, painted with white lacquer, hide the structural elements, and form the separate functions within the open plan. The Green House is a 12-story, mixed-use residential building at 10-25 Jackson Avenue in Long Island City (LIC), Queens. Developed by Charney Companies and designed by STUDIO V, the building holds an identifiable industrial design language reflective of the rich history of Long Island City.LIC was long renowned as the only site of terracotta production in the entirety of New York City, with the nearby New York Architectural Terra-Cotta Works building built in 1892. The Harmony Home project is developed trough 2022 and completed in 2023. It is located in Sofia, Bulgaria, Harmony Building. The high elevation and the generous window glazing set the scene for the creation of an excellent panoramic, light washed with priceless views and a spacious interior design. The home consists of a living room, kitchen, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The main theme of the renovation of this small apartment is rediscovery.In fact, during the demolition works, previously hidden elements such as the vaulted brick ceiling and the arches that characterize the living room came to light.
