Hippolytushaus Community Centre

The catholic parish community centre "Hippolytushaus" is a prominent urban-planning highlight at the entrance to the town of Troisdorf, near Bonn. It is part of an ensemble of buildings that is located in the archdiocese of Cologne and includes the historic St. Hippolytus church and the "Hippolytusgarten", which is a family centre as well as kindergarten. Both new buildings are the work of Stuttgart architects ATELIER BRÜCKNER.   The parish community centre is designed as a city gate that emanates its character radially, in that it is a building with three fronts. Large "gates", which are fully glazed all over, constitute an inviting, space-enclosing gesture, which is concentrated in the centre of the two-storey flat-roofed buil... もっと見る

Studiofibre for Farfetch

A bespoke future workspace focused on human experience and wellbeing.  Space designed to be as unique, luxurious, easy to use and ground-breaking as the pioneering Farfetch brand itself.  Natural, understated materiality pays homage to both the global brand and the Californian location.  Stucco backdrops are offset by a palette of woods (bamboo, beech and walnut), marble, copper accents, foliage.   Purposeful ‘neuro neighbourhoods’ within the overall space support the diverse needs of the workforce across any working day and encourage the team to move around the space to select the optimal environments for different tasks.  Sculptural private phone booths (designed by Studiofibre), crafted from slatted... もっと見る

Hotel Bauhofstrasse

Hotel Bauhofstrasse is a consistent sustainable building with eyes on the future. Due to sensitive urban integration next to historic buildings the hotel contributes to the revitalization of the surrounding district.   By choosing the trendsetting construction principle of wooden room modules it sets standards regarding ecology, efficiency, construction period and quality. The modules were produced in Austria, transported to Ludwigsburg and installed on site within five working days. The shingling with white fibre cement plates does not reveal that this is a wooden building. The surfaces in the interior remain visible in their inherent construction and thus provoke a special atmosphere.   The four-storey building adopts the he... もっと見る

House in Palacio

This housing forms a part of a former palace in the heart of Madrid constructed in the middle of the 18th century. Before the reform, the high ceilings, the massive walls and the structure of wood, they were remaining hidden by an endless number of partitions that were dividing in excess the space.   The aim of our intervention has been to open the housing in its entirety. Eliminating all the walls and the false ceilings, we have obtained a wide and fluid space that recovers the lordly aspect that had in his moment.   Lounge, dining room and kitchen join in one space. The distribution of the latter develops about a black island that, for his scale and dimensions, looks like a sculpture carved in granite.   As for the ar... もっと見る

Villa WULF

Living and working: a classical programme in a present-day versionIn a residential area in the neighbourhood of the historical town of Bruges in Belgium, we can find this beautiful marriage of living and working.  The clients, both doctors employed in a hospital in the vicinity, were dreaming of a new house with room for their medical practice at home. After looking around, they found the ideal location in a lot with originally two parcels including an old house. Cas Architects did the rest.   First of all they gratefully made use of the location: a place, adorned with old oaks and beeches.  Pieter-Jan Leenknecht: They add to the creation of perception of the project. We chose for an intimate architecture with brick and gla... もっと見る

PELAYO

This is a complete renovation of a 90 sqm flat in the centric “barrio de Chueca” in Madrid, with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The aim of our client was to rent the flat, so we created an open layout that integrates the different uses. The kitchen is not only open to the dining room, but its the same space.   Also, corridors were eliminated, so we cross from one space to the other directly, concentrating in the uses relation. So as to make this relation consistent, we can cross from the social area to the most private area – the bathrooms – via the bedrooms, so the bedrooms are the connections.   Due to the small size of the flat, we decided to have concrete for all the floor, in order to eliminate barrie... もっと見る

The Espresso Lab in Dubai

The Espresso Lab is a specialty coffee house founded by Emarati award winning barista and coffee connoisseur, Ibrahim Al Mallouhi. With his purist and formalist approach to specialty coffee, it was crucial that the space captured the essence of his philosophy and revolved around the art of coffee making. The bar counter was cladded with a newly discovered quarry, that made it’s first debut to the world at this very location. Drawn by the dynamic terrazzo-like character of the natural stone, customers are encouraged to walk and sit around the counter to experience the baristas at work.   Maintaining the focus on the counter, the surrounding elements were kept pure. Striking a delicate balance between elegant sophistication and p... もっと見る

The Espresso Lab in Abu Dhabi

The Espresso Lab Abu Dhabi is located at the Qasr Al Hosn cultural park, a masterplan developed to preserve the cities oldest building, the Qasr Al Hosn Fort. Similar to the first branch, the coffee shop’s concept focuses on the coffee bar that sits center of the space to highlight the coffee making process. Cladded in the striking Rosso Persiano stone, the eye is imminently drawn to baristas producing the brands award winning coffee.   The furniture is reminiscent of traditional oriental coffee houses, adding a nostalgic cue to the experience. The natural beech finish of the furniture compliments the warm palette of the space, framed by the black patina steel details.   While this location embodies the specialty coffee... もっと見る

The play of light and shadow on the white abstracted arcade stretches the journey for stepping into the wonderland. The central dining area is defined by wood furniture, beech trimming, rattan surfaces, and a vaulted arch ceiling, further lightened up by pouring daylight. On the side, a series... もっと見る

FOREST STONE

Tangent to the border between the village and the forest, this rocky house that rests on the base of a small hill stands up after somesliding down the slope. Its presence is the landmark of the entry into a deep and clear forest where, as the poet says, the walker becomes a prisoner of silence and greenery.   The project takes advantage of the legal possibility of making a dividing wall with the neighbour to turn the back on the human north and enjoy the south of nature; the garden, in which the house cautiously enters through a wooden passage floating on stake, has beeches, oaks and wild mice of the underbrush.   The forest stone tames the cavities offered by the natural mass to live in harmony with the environment; its relat... もっと見る

THE LAST HOUSE

After the collapse of the old priest's house, in the sixties it was decided to build a new house based on the remaining walls. The need to use that new structure as a feed storage left the inside of the house unbuilt. Our project of rebuilding and completing an unusedstructure as a new house starts out on this premise. Caption Caption The responsibility of rendering the very last building of a row of houses in the old town leads us to reinterpreting the complex and peculiar original space. In this sense, the project proposes to reorganize its composition separating it into two simple volumes: the main one, with a two-sloped roof, which rises leaving the old stone base visible andforms a semi-exterior ground floor; and  the s... もっと見る
