Snøhetta completes Norway’s first naturally climatized mixed-use building
Global transdisciplinary architecture and design practice Snøhetta has completed Norway’s first naturally climatized mixed-use building. Vertikal Nydalen is located in the Nydalen neighborhood of Oslo, a former industrial area by the river Akerselva. The visually appealing and dynamic structure incorporates a simplified and self-sufficient climate system, based on research into sustainable energy solutions.

Snøhetta designs new extension for the world’s oldest ski museum in Oslo
Global transdisciplinary architecture and design practice Snøhetta has designed a new entrance and outdoor extension for the Norwegian Skimuseet, the world’s oldest ski museum. Celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2023, the new addition provides the Skimuseet (Ski Museum) in Holmenkollen, Oslo, with its own distinct identity, one that offers a pleasing contrast to the impressive Holmenkollen Ski Jump.

Oslo: Social engagement comes to the Palace’s backyard
In an urban city block behind the Royal Palace in Oslo, Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter’s winning proposal for Parkveien 27-31 features seamless integration of modern design principles with the historical preservation of several multi-storied housing buildings. Incorporating a wide range of voices, needs, and perspectives, the project showcases the firm’s ability to balance past demands with present requirements.

Two villas - Flesaasveien
Elegantly placed and intertwined with the sloping terrain, the two villas on Flesaasveien have a simple yet striking volume. The two buildings are positioned next to an existing house in a residential neighbourhood to the north of Oslo, Norway. The surrounding area is characterised by its green and open spaces. With a sensitivity to the surrounding context and site conditions, this densification project eases into the neighbourhood without overcrowding the site. A combination of curves and straight lines in the project gives a refreshing but modern addition. The exterior is clad in untreated heartwood of pine, outer corners rounded to provide a dynamic yet soft and fluid appearance.

Ascending tower form of the Munch Museum brings a contemporary vision of the museum to Oslo’s waterfront
Located on Oslo’s waterfront, the new Munch Museum by estudio Herreros offers a contemporary concept of a museum with a transcendental urban role and historic responsibility as a cohesive element of the community, not only of Oslo but of the entire country. Towering above the skyline at 60-meters in height, the exterior is clad in recycled, perforated aluminium panels with varying degrees of translucency.
