The Metworks building in London was first constructed in 2006 and was recently renovated from an old accommodation space into a cutting-edge creative college. The old, outdated building is now home to one of the largest creative colleges for young adults in the United Kingdom. The college is spread across eight campuses throughout the UK, allows students to explore their creative side, and offers courses in eSports, games, media, music, and computing. History has been made at Westminster Abbey in London with the first major addition to the famous church since 1745 – and AkzoNobel has supplied products for the prestigious project. The new £23 million Weston Tower features 500 leaded windows, and every window frame is coated with the company's Interpon D2525 superdurable powder coatings. Thirty minutes to the west of downtown Cairo, a short distance from the desert and the banks of the Nile, Egypt's first technology business park is a swirl of futuristic shaped buildings set amonst lush parkland. It is designed to create a calm atmosphere conducive to creativity. Hence, buildings, which are arranged in organic clusters, cover only 10% of the site. Buildings are strong, goemetric or sculptural shapes of concrete, steel and glass, subtly contrasted with facings of local stone. London Bridge Tower, which is also known as the Shard, is a 72 storey mixed use tower located besides London Bridge Station on the south bank of the river Thames. The station, which combines train, bus and underground lines is one of the busiest in London with 200,000 users per day. The project is a response to the Mayor’s policy of promoting high density development at key transport nodes. The form of the tower was determined by its prominence on the London skyline. Unlike other cities such as New York or Hong Kong, the Shard is not part of an existing cluster of high rise buildings. The Cedar Grove Parking Garage, located in Eagan, MN, is a two-level parking structure designed to accommodate the parking needs of the nearby Paragon Outlet Center and other developments. The architect of the Parking garage was RSP Architects. From the City of Eagan’s website, “The architectural elements of the ramp are intended to respect the design of the outlet center using compatible materials and vertical elements, but not copy it. The design uses brick veneer exterior broken up by colored concrete panels with architectural expressions that are consistent with the vertical design of the outlet center while maintaining its utilitarian purpose as a public parking facility.
