F.O.G. Architecture designs Cycle Cycle mobile bakehouse with grain sack facades
F.O.G. Architecture has designed a somewhat unconventional pop-up cafe and bakery for a client who wished to explore a connection between food and the land. Cycle Cycle mobile bakehouse is a pavilion-like structure whose design is inspired by a traditional barn and is reminiscent of Chinese rural architecture.

F.O.G. Architecture was founded in 2018 by architects Zheng Yu and Zhan Di and has studios in London, Shanghai, and Chongqing. The studio’s philosophy is based on the premise that architecture is filled with emotion and forms a timeless connection with people. Cycle Cycle presented an ideal opportunity to explore this philosophy.

Sustainable prefab house journeys from Quito to the Galápagos Islands
“Sula” is a prefabricated home designed by architect Diana Salvador for a family living on the Galápagos Islands. This sustainable house is named after the Blue-footed Booby, a bird endemic to the Galápagos Islands and whose scientific name is Sula nebouxii.

Sula was prefabricated in Quito, the capital of Ecuador, over a period of two months. The design consists of around 17,000 screws and 2,000 made-to-measure pieces, including wood, metal, and glass elements. As part of a meticulous operation, the home was transported in two trucks to Guayaquil, a seaport in Ecuador. The Qingyijiang Road Elementary School by TAO (Trace Architecture Office) explores a decentralized school system which can be described as embracing equality, non-hierarchy, freedom, and diversity.

The school is located on a 90-mu site with buildings occupying around 30,000 square meters. The design takes a low-rise and high-density approach with the two-storey teaching block spread out horizontally. The block consists of the ‘platform’ (functional classrooms) on the first floor and the ‘huts’ (standard classrooms) on the second floor.
