The name Jeongdongjin originates from its position “a village located directly east of Gwanghwamun in Hanyang, once home to a riverside ferry.” This tranquil seaside community, primarily composed of rural farming and fishing villages, features small coastal harbors and fields stretching inland. This apartment, a characteristic 1930's house in Amsterdam West, located in the De Baarsjes neighbourhood, has been renovated in a fully sustainable and responsible manner. The renovation focused on three main pillars: 1. Insulating the house and eliminating the use of gas.2. Using as many sustainable and healthy materials as possible.3. Arons & Gelauff architects designed a Tiny Forest full of starter homes for campus De Kwekerij in Utrecht, Netherlands: colourful, sustainable, and affordable due to a smart layout. This also includes De Kwekerij, a former KPN plot in Utrecht near the Diakonessen Hospital and the HKU. Fun Haus seeks to push preconceptions of space per person on a small 117m2 urban site in Inner City Sydney. The primary dwelling is constructed behind the existing cottage frontage and a secondary detached dwelling sits along the rear lane. Separation between the dwellings offers flexibility in household permutations, with a total of 6 people being able to reside on the site. The maximised central courtyard was important to provide both dwellings with access to light, ventilation and landscape outlooks. T3 ARCHITECTS and KANOPÉA Architecture Studio designed this week-end Villa with a true Sustainable approach tailor-made for Tropical conditions: hot weather, heavy rains, wind (as we are close to the sea), insects and other wildlife… With the existing site being partially covered by a forest, T3 Team decided to locate the Villa under the trees (to get shadow and thermal comfort), but having the main facade on the forest’s line to get a very nice view of the tropical garden and pool.
