Collaborators since 2006, the two share a common mission: To reshape the contemporary urban landscape and restore equilibrium between humans and nature using honest, thoughtfully designed and elegantly functional streetscape and landscape elements. This shared commitment envisions an urban revolution in the 21st century that champions inclusivity, connectivity, enhanced quality of life and elevated environmental responsibility as the basis for transformational urban design.

A recent five-part video series entitled “The Living City” further explores this mindset, going behind the scenes on Urbidermis’ Headquarters, Parc de Belloch, and documenting the innovative perspectives and unique accomplishments that define the design house. From the Urbidermis origin story following the ’92 Barcelona Olympic Games, to the pioneering methods of regenerative urban landscaping developed at the Belloch Forestal nursery, to the innovative technology integrations and analytics enhancing urban living, “The Living City” offers an inspiring showcase of the progressive ethos at the heart of the Landscape Forms-Urbidermis partnership.

Spanning high-performance lighting and minimalist outdoor site furnishings, products from this partnership help designers bring an aesthetic and an ethos that is fresh, forward-looking and sustainability-driven to their projects. Running throughout is the theme of universal design — an exercise in restraint and refinement to create solutions that are at once cohesive, distinctive and recognizable while also being well suited for a range of sites and settings. This concept is particularly evident in the group’s lighting offering, which includes the Arne, Arne S, Candela, Gunnar, Tumbler, Rama and Slope urban luminaires. In these solutions, a thoughtful combination of formal simplicity, international design appeal, powerful performance options, and profound configurability serves to elevate visual experiences and help citizens enjoy a deeper connection to the outdoors in the many different cities they call home.

Over the years, the Landscape Forms-Urbidermis partnership has borne witness to the development and transformation of cities towards more sustainable and more human models, giving rise to quality urban environments imbued with biodiversity and designed to bolster the physical, mental and social health of their inhabitants.

The resulting spaces and solutions work to turn the spotlight of city life onto citizens and nature, endowing spaces public and private with beauty, biophilia and diversity in design. A broad spectrum of seminal settings, projects from the Landscape Forms-Urbidermis partnership include: The University of California San Francisco Cardiovascular Center, the LinkedIn Campus in Sunnyvale, Salt Lake City International Airport, the Miami Underline, Orange County Great Park in Irvine, the University of Texas Moody Center in Austin, the Smoky Hollow district in Raleigh, Pier 26 in New York City, and many others.
