Housing a restaurant on the edge of Cuc Phuong, a diverse forest situated in northern Vietnam, a semi-outdoor space with a three-gabled circular roof by VTN Architects offers a rich experience for visitors to the newly planned Vendana Resort can take in the surrounding mountains, blossom forest and artificial lake.
The structure is assembled from two stacked ring-shaped roofs with a dome roof on top that is detached by light strips, respectively. At its widest, the radius measures 18 m while the structure itself is nearly 16-meters in height. Inspired by traditional architecture, the ringed roof is made of 36 modular frames that give the impression of a multi-level structure.
The structure is positioned next to an artificial lake to take advantage of natural cooling and mitigate the hot and humid weather typical of the region and the north of Vietnam more generally. Further, the lake acts as a reservoir to store both rainwater and groundwater from the mountains. This water is utilized for irrigation of all plants on the 16.4 hectares site, including the blossom forests
