BLIP is a web development company, considered as the “best company to work for” and simultaneously “the best workspace” in Portugal. The relocation of the building to the Porto Nascente edifice meant creating an unusual, fun and relaxed work space in an environment in harmony with the company, its workers and its open and free spirit.
Therefore, around 400 open space workplaces were created and distributed on the two floors of this historic and emblematic building in the center of Porto city. These workplaces, mixed with team work, meeting and leisure areas, are distributed by their ground floor and the first-floor balcony, around the large central space, where twenty-two meeting rooms are located.
The entrance to the building is an introduction to a unique, charismatic and authentic office - where an old Wild West carriage marks the center of the reception desk and the randomly opening wall unveils some of the interior of the extending workspace, all over the building. The work areas are arranged according to the various teams that are part of it, named after original names and personalized decoration, always marked by different chill-out zones that break the usual concept of rigidity and inflexibility imposed by the fixed layout of the work desks.
The modules that occupy the central hole house the twenty-two meeting rooms of different sizes that meet the needs of each project team. At the top of this central volume is the large break-out - a multi-purpose space with colorful sofas and chairs, ideal for conviviality or even for presentations.
Throughout the building one is surprised by the existence of multifunctional rooms; an amphitheater for training, parties, presentations, meetups, etc.; a gymnasium; a vibrant game room with pinball, darts and even Playstation games; for those in need of energy recovery, a meditation and massage room; and a Nap Room - a space with relaxing lighting, a revitalizing aquarium, and relaxing furniture such as puffs and chaise-longues for the well-deserved rest. Finally, the large kitchen and dining area provide all employees with spaces for preparing food, snacks, fruit and vegetables coming directly from the urban garden installed in the rooftop of the building.
