Boonsong Osot office is an office & warehouse in Nonthaburi province near Bangkok Thailand. The owner is the famous Thai herbal medicine company in Thailand; therefore, the architect intends to apply the knowledge of traditional Thai architecture to the modern office design, similar to the way that Boonsong Osot apply the knowledge of Thai herbs to modern medicine.
The design concept derives from the traditional Thai house, such as the building is raised above the ground to prevent flooding and separated into smaller areas and combine them through a large outdoor court and terrace called “chan” to integrate each area together. This allows good ventilation and natural light to enter each area, and create outdoor recreational spaces better.
The building’s main program is designed according to the concept above. On the first floor the programs are service and entrance areas. On the second floor, the programs are offices and meeting rooms, which are designed to be separated areas, and connected by the large terrace around the central courtyard, which can be used as outdoor public space for relaxation and informal meeting area. Last, the third floor of the building is also used as a residential area for the company’s guests.
