The site is located on Colon Avenue at the intersection with Calle 62. The building faces the New Yucatan Congress Center, generating an open space but contained virtually, in a series of posters that filter the visuals inside, seeking to remove the constructions from the edge of Colón Avenue, since, by the proposed architectural program, the height of the hotel is 10 levels.
The hotel is resolved by generating public uses at street and square level, promoting a large empty space, open, existing inside a large perforation that gives access to the reception, restaurant and public spaces. This large related space opens to the square that responds to Colón Avenue, in an urban attitude of making a city, of generating spaces for the city, as a contribution of the project.
The scheme arises from generating a single body of rooms with double bay, oriented north-south, opening to the uniform lighting of the north and the views of the historic center of the city of Mérida, to the south. At the base of the building are located the internal services to the adjacent.
Two levels of public spaces and services, 8 levels of rooms and a useful roof terrace, where the pool is located, clearly contains the architectural program. A basement for 85 cars, which is accessed through the interior plaza and a commercial space towards Avenida Colón complements the program.
The Sky Lounge, consisting of the infinity pool and a rooftop terrace bar, give the hotel a very special character.
The formal treatment is proposed as a unitary element, of great character, which responds to the urban environment pointing towards Colon Avenue, accentuating its character through a series of horizontal and vertical planes, these rotated to cut the sunlight of the west, and generating a series of constant rhythms produced by the faceting of the planes. These planes, overlap the horizontal planes, The planes play an important role creating a formal integration. The buildings can be captured clearly due to the game of the planes and shows between one and the other the horizontal structure produced by the mezzanines, providing a serious image, without artifice.
