Zeru Miami is the third restaurant of the Zeru Group designed by Faci Leboreiro and the first located outside of Mexico City. Spread over 450 square meters, it is situated in Brickell, a lively neighborhood known for its vibrant scene, which offers a diverse range of concepts and cuisines.
The essence of Zeru is born in the Basque Country, where the gastronomy is mixed with green landscapes and dramatic blue coasts, creating a unique region in the world where haute cuisine is enjoyed in unrivaled surroundings. Faci Leboreiro wanted to reflect this feeling of a journey through the Basque Country through a space that complements and elevates the gastronomy, crafting a special and unique experience through all the details.
Entering through the reception area, diners are greeted by a lattice inspired by the Zeru monogram, which embraces the space, allowing a glimpse of the restaurant without revealing all the interior. The mirrored ceiling reflects this latticework by playing with visual boundaries and highlighting the green marble monolith that serves as a hostess station.
Continuing the tour, the restaurant is completely revealed, where the wooden herringbone pergola is the protagonist. The eye-catching pergola — inspired by fish bones as fish is one of the restaurant’s specialties) — guides the customer's eyes towards the heart of the restaurant: the bar. The marble monolith crowned by a brass bottle rack sees and is seen throughout the restaurant. Materials create a sophisticated and elegant atmosphere to enjoy the ambience of the place, while observing the open kitchen where food is prepared.
In the hall, the space opens to a double height, where the leafy vegetation and the blue shades from the materials and the furniture remind guests of the Basque coast. The bookcase is the perfect visual heading, decorated with sculptures by Felipao and objects that connect with the restaurants central artwork, which is Las Meninas by Velazquez, intervened by the artist Oliver Gal.
All the furniture was designed specifically for the project, with textures that reflect the different blue and green shades of water. The design process took two years. Through these spaces and details, Zeru Miami is lived as a complete experience.
