Respecting the original architectural language, the design of the extension was based on a deep understanding of the existing home. The aim was to maintain aesthetic coherence and visual integration so that the extension doesn't appear as a forced addition, but rather a natural evolution of the residence. Renovation / extension daycare centreWhen renovating the municipal daycare centre in the Munich district of Altschwabing, the challenge lay in implementing contemporary standards within a listed building. This project was a renovation of a three-story mixed-use building. The first floor used to house an old hardware store, while the upper floors were residential. We renovated the first floor and basement into an art gallery, and the upper floors into a single-family house. The site is in a quiet, old neighborhood full of similar buildings, and was in between an old marketplace and a new art district for young artists. The way children perceive space may be slightly different from how we adults perceive it. That's what I thought as I casually watched the client's daughter play with her younger sister using toys. Op een prachtige locatie in het midden van het land woont onze opdrachtgever, met op haar erf twee oude paardenstallen. Haar wens was om deze stallen om te bouwen tot een praktijkruimte gecombineerd met een gastenverblijf. Aan het water en midden in het groen moest het een fijne en rustige verblijfplek worden.
