75% control is a new process of creating upholstery, which involves using tradi- tional cushion material - polyurethane foam - that is usually hidden under the fabric. The foam is poured into an open mold (provisional patent pending) that allows it to freely expand within the furniture’s wooden structure. In this way, the foam locks and sticks to the structure and ‘grows’ a tactile surface that has a fabric look and feel. The chemical reaction that creates the foam and its organic shape when it has been sealed out of the mold has always fascinated me. After two years research at the Royal College of Art and with my previous experience as a development manager in the plastics industry, I have succeeded in inventing a new process that utilizes the material’s natural expansion into an industrial process.
