Barrier Free System – a line of products that is setting new standards for the future

NEW!: d line, the innovative leader of architectural hardware since 1971, founded on Knud Holscher’s strong design philosophy, is proud to present Barrier Free, a new line of high-quality products consisting of leverhandle and snipturn solutions and bathroom products such as a multi-functional grab bar, seat and armrest, all which are specially designed to meet the needs of people with minor or larger disabilities or elderly people 50+ who simply want an aesthetic solution for their home. Barrier Free sets future standards for user-friendliness and functionality and shows that aesthetic design is not limited by user group. With this launch, d line enters a new phase of product introductions which hit the markets globally starting in 2014. d line is evolving!

From a one-size-fits-all to an aesthetic and user-friendly design When d line initiated the project several years ago, it choose to implement a solution created in close dialogue with the end user. The grab rails, seats and railings were designed by Holscher Design. “Designing this family of products has been a fantastic opportunity to bring new design and new solutions into this world”, states Knud Holscher. Each element has its unique features, but the products were designed as a group to match users’ needs by being flexible, functional and aesthetic, and in concert with the well-known d line quality landmarks: 20 years of warranty, 316 stainless steel and a unique handmade surface treatment.

CUT lever handle and snipturn – one of a kind for people with special needs The CUT lever handle and snip turn has been designed with CUBO Architects for the Copenhagen-based House of Disabled People’s Organization. The house has been designed in every detail to “be equal for everyone” whether the user has a gait or arm/ hand disability, uses a wheelchair, has hearing- or vision problems or some kind of allergy. CUBO Architects worked in close cooperation with the No-Barriers Advice and with occupational therapists from the Muscular Atrophy Foundation to create “the perfect lever handle to accommodate those challenges without compromising the aesthetic look”.

Benefits: • Exceptional user-friendly • Can be operated with a stump or elbow • Extremely easy to press down • Special surface of materials that makes it feel “warm to the touch” • NEW! Available in light grey, black and stainless steel with/without antibacterial coating
