Bobina is made of yarn in combination with resin. The construction is built by wrapping yarn threads around a mould. This developed manufacturing process and material enable creating three dimensional textile structures, which are stable but still have the sense of textile.
The project emerged in an experimental research about curved surfaces. Textile materials and techniques offer a huge range of possibilities regarding flexible structures, colors and dimensions. Although it has a technical origination the result is impressing and graceful. Using these characteristics, fabric signatures are translated into stable furniture. The eye-catching pattern occurs in a strong relation between the material in combination with the process and static matters. In essence the manufacturing process is comparable to weaving or even basketry. The choice of colors emphasizes the ornamental character and leads to a variety of expressions.
The Bobina series is composed of chairs and coffee tables. The combination with familiar materials like wood or glass components conveys the usage in an everyday environment. Two different chair types offer certain comfort. The coffee tables in different sizes have the feature of storing everyday things or displaying favorite pieces underneath the tabletop.
