Kristian Vedel was born in 1923 and graduated from the Danish School of Arts Crafts and Industrial Design, and after lecturing at the same institution and elsewhere he became part of the Scandinavian Design movement. Vedel was the first architect, who took children’s furniture seriously, designing his works based on the child’s needs as well as modern simplicity. He commented: “My purpose was to create a combination of a children’s chair and a tumble stool, which would appeal to the child’s own fantasy and their varying psychological and physical needs.” Children are little explorers with big ideas and various needs. Our little loved ones love to jump, crawl, hide, play, cradle dolls, draw and sometimes two or more at the same time. Their main business is to play and learn by doing so. The Child’s Chair offers just the tool to the young explorers to utilize their potential and develop their motorical skills while at play. Not only is it colourful and flexible in use, it is also made out of strong molded plywood making it almost impossible to break. The adjustable slots offer endless possibilities for work and play – the seat can be adjusted to make a high or low chair or can be completely taken out so that the cild rock in it or crawl through it. If the smaller plate is added, the youngest have a little multipurpose table for eating, drawing or playing. The Child’s Chair places no boundaries to imagination and fits perfectly with the child’s day-to-day life. The Child’s Chair is made in Denmark out of strong molded plywood (beech) and laminate. The Chair is ….. approved for children. There are no screws, bolts or nails, making it very child friendly and safe. The Chair features slots at various heights for seat adjustment and greater flexibility.
