Architectural ceiling panels that are approved for installation beneath fire sprinklers.
Ceilume Thermoformed Ceiling Panels can be installed beneath fire sprinklers. This improves the appearance of a project by completely hiding the sprinklers, protects the sprinklers against discharge due to accidental impacts or tampering, and reduces the cost of construction by simplifying coordination of sprinkler and ceiling installation. When exposed to heat from a fire, the panels soften, sag, and drop out of the ceiling suspension system at a temperature less than that required to activate sprinklers; the sprinklers can then discharge and extinguish the fire. The panel are approved for drop-out use by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), Factory Mutual (FM), California State Fire Marshal, Certmark, and IAMPO Uniform Evaluation Service (IAPMO-UES).
In addition to fire safety, Ceilume ceiling products:
-- are Greenguard Gold approved for low VOC emissions,
-- are not damaged by water or moisture,
-- are cleanable,
-- do not support mold,
-- meet FDA requirements for use in food preparation areas,
-- install easily in conventional suspended ceiling grids,
-- are durable and fiber free,
Panels come in over 40 styles ranging from classic to contemporary, and in a variety of colors as well as faux metal and wood grains finishes. They are also offered in translucent and transparent material for innovative lighting schemes.
To our knowledge, this is the first drop-out ceiling panel with aesthetic values suitable for architectural use.
