Illustrating every building around the world is no easy feat, but it’s an occasion that The City Works are rising to. Why embark on such an ambitious adventure? It’s an effort to remind the world of its togetherness, and how charmingly complex it can be.

Championed by their uniquely intricate style of illustration, The City Works create carefully curated souvenir collections, each about a different world city. Applied to cards, posters, accessories and stationery, these sophisticated cityscapes make the perfect memento, whether for the seasoned natives or the curious travellers.

Hailing from their studio in Vienna, the designer brand will be marking Design Junction 2016 with an exhibition of their entire range so far, for visitors to gaze upon, touch, and colour-in too. Founders Sylvia Moritz and Rowan Ottesen will be on hand to discuss their experiences and ambitious plans for the future. They have produced bespoke work for the likes of National Gallery, Oxford University, Barbican Centre, and University of the Arts London, and have also launched their debut colouring-in book with Hardie Grant Publishing.

Their latest product, the Debossed Notebook, is a tactile jotter for city lovers. All 144 Munken inside pages have been lay-flat bound by specialists in Holland. This method of binding allows seamless scribbling across the spine, which maximises the writing area, while saving paper. The cover design is roller-pressed individually by hand – the strongest and most accurate way to leave a lasting impression. Available in a variety of cities and colour-ways.

Making a comeback is a new print-run of the best-selling Cityscape Blue Print. This 50x70cm lithograph is a meticulous tribute to London, with a Prussian blue background that takes inspiration from great architectural drawings. Containing over 100,000 vector paths, the highly detailed illustration reveals something new every time it’s looked at.
