‘Deco’ has taken its inspiration from the Art Deco movement that first appeared in France early in the 20th Century. Abbreviated from Arts Décoratifs, the styling is associated with luxury, glamour and exuberance. Art Deco itself was influenced by bold geometric forms of Cubism and the bright colours of Fauvism’s more obvious ‘painterly’ qualities and bold colours.
The sleeker form of Art Deco that appeared in the 1930s, called Streamline Moderne, was synonymous with curving forms and smooth, polished surfaces.
This collection combines these influences in a contemporary style with bold colours that reflect the essence of the fine craftsmanship and rich materials that Art Deco embodied.
