Cross-laminated timber (KLH®, CLT, X-LAM, or Cross-Lam) is made from layers of spruce lamellas stacked on top of each other. These layers are glued together using formaldehyde-free adhesives under high pressure to create large-format building elements.

These elements serve as structural components designed to withstand static loads and are used for walls, ceilings, and roofs in solid timber construction. The crosswise arrangement of the longitudinal and transverse lamellas minimizes the wood's swelling and shrinkage in the plane of the panel. This design also enhances the load-bearing capacity and dimensional stability of the panels.
