Living walls provide cooling through a combination of shading, evapotranspiration and surface reflectivity. These truly unique living walls that define and enrich the spaces they inhabit. Adding natural warmth, color, and healthy benefits.
It’s always very satisfying to energize an otherwise blank, cold, grey wall with hundreds of plants. And to have this wall be visible to the public around the Nob Hill district in San Francisco, California, is an added bonus. It's attached to the Cathedral School for Boys campus with so much history and architectural charm, making it even more rewarding. The planting pattern makes use of a variety of ferns, and flowering wall covers planted into swathes that travel across the canvas in an uphill direction to convey a sense of upward momentum and progress. It felt fitting for an academic institution.
