Patterns
Iconic textile motifs merge and emerge in Patterns, a set of three dishtowels (each 65cm x 65cm) by Claire Vos. A traditional French pattern dissolves into a pattern from Dutch folk art, while Scottish plaid melds into an Asian theme and a Greek key turns into a checkered pattern.
The patterns go through their choreography in graphic black and white, but a stripe of bright red, blue, or green extends across the fabric.
Claire Vos
Claire Vos was predestined to become a textile designer. As she says, “The love of textiles is in my blood. Production of textiles and ceramics has been in my family for generations.” She specializes in re-interpreting traditional techniques and forms, paying close attention to the quality of the materials she uses. Her source of inspiration may be an Indonesian ikat weave or a Dutch woolen blanket, but the end result will be completely contemporary, almost graphical or industrial.
A 1991 graduate of Design Academy Eindhoven, Vos studied her craft in Italy, Switzerland, and Indonesia before settling in the Netherlands. Today she shares a studio with her husband, designer Roderick Vos.
Functionals
The Functionals Collection consists of furniture and home goods designed by talented designers. All products are exclusively made for Functionals and sold via Functionals.eu and a limited number of carefully selected resellers.
Functionals focuses on craftsmanship and elegant simplicity, not fleeting trends. The mission of the company is to design and sell furniture, lighting, and accessories that answer needs, delight the eye, and stand the test of time. They are made to last, so they are made well. Manufacturing runs are limited, and the products do not come in dozens of colors, just black and white.
The company pays close attention to every order, going above and beyond the usual expectations. Order a candleholder and Functionals will include candles in the box, order a lightning armature and the source of light is included.
