ECHTSTAHL’s very first collaboration with German designer Mark Braun gave birth to PIRO, a wardrobe made from bent pipes and sheets to be premiered at the 2018 Cologne furniture show.

PIRO is defined by its seemingly simple yet clever line layout and its folded surface. Looking at PIRO from the front, you will be struck by the aesthetic interplay of linear and planar rectangles. The side view, however, reveals that the upper and lower pipe segments have been deliberately bent in order to provide space for hanging up clothing at the top and dropping off scarves, gloves and other items at the bottom – incorporating an edged plate insert.

Mark Braun designed tailor-made coat hangers named IVO from bent stainless steel specifically for PIRO. To prevent them from sliding down, notches have been added to PIRO’s top steel pipe on the left and right hand sides. The new wardrobe is powder-coated and available in five colours: jet black, light grey, beige red, flame red and ultramarine. With this palette, PIRO perfectly matches the colour concept of the entire ECHTSTAHL collection, making it an eye-catcher, be it with vivid or subtle tones, in your hallway, guest room or teenage bedroom as well as in commercial spaces.
