The versatile Preludia Series of tables and chairs meets the demands of the contract market and brings outstanding modern design and craftsmanship to both public and private spaces.

Carl Hansen & Son is unveiling the result of its creative and strategic collaboration with American designer Brad Ascalon: the Preludia Series, designed to meet today’s demands for functionality, quality, comfort and aesthetics. Featuring chairs and tables in a wide range of options, Preludia unites Carl Hansen & Son’s design heritage and Ascalon’s signature modern, minimalist approach, and marks the 110-year-old company’s first collaboration with an American designer.

Celebrated New York-based designer Brad Ascalon joined hands with Danish furniture manufacturer Carl Hansen & Son to develop a series of furniture designed for contemporary public and private interiors – and to accommodate high-volume production.

A third-generation designer, Ascalon was recognised by Wallpaper* magazine as one of the "Ten Most Wanted” emerging designers in the world in 2005, having just earned his master’s degree in Industrial Design from New York’s Pratt Institute. Today, Ascalon is known for his distinctive reductive style and a passion for traditional materials. His fascination with mid-century design and his particular interest in exploring the potential of wood created clear common ground in the collaboration with Carl Hansen & Son. The resulting Preludia Series pays homage to the mid-century design and craftsmanship values at the heart of the Carl Hansen & Son brand.
