SPINchiller3 Free-cooling is the new series of high efficiency air-cooled liquid chillers for outdoor installation with cooling capacity from 260 kW to 675 kW.
The SPINchiller3 Free-cooling series is the ultimate solution for all those applications that require cooling even in wintertime, such as:
- Data centres and server rooms in order to dissipate the heat produced by processors
- Telecommunications in order to dissipate the heat produced by electric and electronic devices
- Industrial processes to cool process liquids
- Shopping centres in order to dissipate the heat produced by people, especially in high attendance.
In all these situations cooling load is a major expense, therefore being able to use the low outdoor temperature to generate part of the cooling capacity free of charge enables notable annual energy consumption savings, up to 40% in harsh climates.
Why multi-scroll technology?
Air-conditioning systems in commercial buildings affect both the initial investment and the monthly operating costs, throughout their life-cycle.
The SPINchiller3 solution with multi-scroll compressors leads to an seasonal energy efficiency equal to that of chillers with inverter compressors (ESEER 4.5) but with a much lower initial investment. This means a lower pay-back period, less than 3 years.
The capacity modulation through the sequential activation of different sized compressors allows the specific adaptation to the plant loads.
The heat exchange surface that is sized for operation at full load (EER 3.4 refers to the compressors at full load with outdoor air temperature 35°C) significantly increases the efficiency of SPINchiller3 when the unit is operating at partial load (EER 5.7 refers to the compressors at part load with outdoor air temperature 20°C). At partial load the units heat exchange surface results in a consequent reduction of the condensation temperature and increase of the evaporation temperature; therefore the power absorbed by the compressors is reduced.
The compressor modularity also ensures a greater reliability because any failure of a compressor does not affect the overall operation of the unit.
What contribution to LEED certification?
The Excellence version of SPINchiller3 Free-Cooling satisfies both prerequisites 2 (Minimum Energy Performance) and 3 (Fundamental Refrigerant Management) of Energy and Atmosphere section. It also meets Credit 4 Parameters (Enhanced Refrigerant Management) allowing 2 points to be awarded.
In this way it helps to obtain the LEED certification for buildings.
Benefits of SPINchiller3 for the installer and the maintainer
Units of the SPINchiller3 FC series, as all Clivet products, are functionally tested in the factory and all the necessary installation components are integrated, thus reducing the installer's work to the electrical and hydraulic connections. In this way they cut the installation time and eliminate the variables related to the assembly of components from different suppliers, with a better final result.
