The Venus Chair ( or Shell Chair ) Hans Wegner designed in 1948 originally for Fritz Hansen , since 2015, the chair as well as the Venus Bench and Coffee Table is produced by Getama . Hans Wegner is considered one of the most important artists and designers in Scandinavia. His furniture designs in the 1940s and 1950s were groundbreaking for Danish design . After a carpentry apprenticeship Wegner visited in the 1930s, the arts and crafts school in Copenhagen , after which he worked in the studio of Arne Jacobsen . From 1946 Wegner worked in his studio for independent companies like PP Møbler , Fritz Hansen , Johannes Hansen or Getama .
