First 100% biobased Verdello® paint.
The binders of traditional aqueous paints are copolymers from the oil industry such as acrylic, vinyls and other derivatives. The challenge was to realize an interior finishing paint that could compete in performance with the aforementioned qualities but with close to a 100% biobased binder and additives. The paint realized at Robin is made of a 100% plant-based resin added to “green” additives.
The resin is made of a mixture of Tall oil, a waste product generated during the process of paper and glycerol production, these products being generated during the distillation of rapeseed oil. These two raw materials come respectively from Finland and France. The other products such as fillings and pigments also come from European deposits. The alkyd formed by these oils is emulsified to form the plant based alkyd binder, used for the formulation of this wall paint. This paint presents qualities that can compare to those of the standard products on the market and is also composed of cleverly chosen composites (antifoaming agents, thickening agents …) based on green/biobased composites without APEO or VOC. These additives are principally made in Germany.
And thus was born Verdello®, the first 100% biobased paint. An extra-matte finish paint in tune with the environment.
