All of the electronic boxes are water resistant, including the connections which are made with water tight seals. The standard flow rate is 1.3 gpm but can be reduced to .5 gpm and the time can be set from 20 sec to 10 sec or 3 sec, making it the most efficient faucet in the world. There is a built-in data port in the box, so a homeowner or facilities manager can upload data to a laptop to see how much water has been used from that faucet over any period of time. This makes the use of a VOLA product part of the point system for LEED certificates. Each unit has a built in hygienic rinse, every 24 hours the unit will run for 20 seconds to keep fresh water moving in the lines when the unit is not often used (think vacation homes) which will keep the traps wet so no smell can enter the home.
