We are pleased to introduce you one of the projects developed by the designer Jorge Prieto which won this year the Bronze award in the category of furniture design at the A' Design Awards 2013.
Most industrial processes in our days have become a serious threat to our environment. Also, materials used for our products are not ecologic neither sustainable. Most of them can not be recycled due to their composition, they just can be piled up in huge dumps that only grow bigger.
However, many processes are luckily more natural and some of them are still being used today! We decided to bring back the old handmade traditions to create a new line of earth friendly furniture, taking profit also of the industrial waste produced and seeking the inside beauty of recycled materials.
The structure of our design had to be very simple, reducing this way the time of production and costs to make it affordable for everyone. Simplicity in our design would make it even lighter and would give it the possibility to pile it up,reducing also space if you need to storage them.
But the most important thing is that we wanted users to appreciate the combination of different textures, colors and sizes of the different wooden planks used for other products in the same design.
This is how the “Waterfall” armchair was born.
Wood planks left from the production of furniture undergo the natural process of steam bending, where they take the shape of the chair or armchair using both the same mold. After this, each bended plank is glued with the others, leaving the larger ones as the support of its three legs.
As used planks wil not always have the same color or texture, each “Waterfall” armchair will be unique. Granting an additional quality to the design.
For those who prefer a more modern chair, we also offer you the upholstered version of the Waterfall armchair. Covering the structure with recycled stuffing and using 100% natural wool cloth, conserving this way a natural chair without risking the integrity of the design.
