Challenge was to fit all the units and amenities on the existing parking lot, while also developing and creating a central communal open space of significance. The communal spaces are highlighted with large, bright swaths of color, and the interstitial circulation is peppered with more nuanced moments of color surprise. The whiteness of the units and fencing is also heavily leveraged, providing numerous moments of choreographed color reflections.
The site is bisected by an existing planter and fairly significant level change, due to the existing slope, which we’ve done our best to visually break down with a large connective staircase. This move simultaneously connects the upper and lower portions of the site, while highlighting the social heart of the campus, the primary dining area.
