Building schools is building at and for the future because young people will carry with them and spread that spatial experience of air, light, simplicity and beauty their entire lives. Such creative injections in the social sphere form a great honour for designers. Within the outline of the master plan - parallel to the future linear park - and in relationship to the patio and implantation of the spaces, an extending stairway follows the natural inclination of the city as an urban foundation. This land-mark building in the Muinkkaai in Ghent hangs in front like a brick sculpture above the entrance hall and the multimedia centre landscape and is supported at the rear by a tower. Vertically rotating strips wrap the tower like a discrete packing in the skyline of Ghent with an ever changing image as living façades to the city.
