Bay House

Milieu Creative as Architects

Evolving from the existing structures put in place previously by Rosevear Architects in 2005 Milieu Creative took upon a full interior and architectural renovation of the Bay House residence which was completed in December 2019.

With a brief that focused on bringing an aspect of warmth and sophistication to the multi-layered home a selection of modern and elegant finishes were selected and detailed throughout, allowing the character of the young family to be expressed. Layers of rich walnut and coffee stained timbers and veneers layer throughout the home, creating warmth and outlining design details in the custom joinery. In turn the modern design of the home’s interior focuses on creating clean lines that emphasis the breathtaking coastal views from each level.

On the ocean side rooms are positioned to captivate the views framing them like a piece of art through the updated windows and doors. Spectacular moments have also been created for the master ensuite bath, master bedroom and open plan kitchen, dining and living area as they take front of the stage over-looking Gordon’s Bay. Where views face inward expansive walls are placed to showcase the client’s collection of expressive art, allowing for the street facing rooms to also hold personality alongside new garden landscaping.

The previous boxed street façade now blends into its surrounds with floor to ceiling glass panels flanking the first floor while discrete timber screens and lush rooftop landscaping providing privacy and architectural detail. The screening details flow through the interior of the home creating a sleek and solid link from the external to the internal.

Embracing the steep site the terraced landscape is layered with greenery, seating zones and steps taking the homes journey right to the water’s edge.
