Berghaus Eller

The brief was to design a small house for a family of four in Blons, a small village in the Walseral-Valley. The building references traditional building typologies in the valley – steep hills lead to small footprints and gables facing the downwards the slope. The small footprint led to a design, that organizes daily life of the family on three floors. While private spaces are located on the lower floor and under the roof, the family meets in the middle, where the living space is located. An enclosed balcony zone placed in front of the volume expands living space to the outside. Completely wrapped into a fine wooden lattice, the Berghaus Eller expresses a contemporary interpretation of traditional craftsmanship.
