Blum, the new ephemeral space by WOW Design

Summumstudio as Designers

WOW Design has returned to exhibit at the international CERSAIE fair (Italy), in collaboration with Summumstudio, with an innovative space designed to project the avant-garde identity of the ceramic brand while creating a groundbreaking exhibition that integrates its ceramic pieces.

The Blum Mediterranean Experience proposal is inspired by coral reef architecture and how light filters through these natural underwater microstructures, showcasing a rich chromatic diversity of materials through pixels of color in the ceramic pieces.

The main facade, featuring the Reef lattice in stoneware, evokes a coral structure experiencing the impact of a powerful sea wave, sculpting its form like a ripple and marking the entrance to the ephemeral space.

This large lattice filters exterior light, playing with it and projecting it inside. It also protects a second skin inside the space, where a variety of colorful textures reminiscent of the seafloor can be discovered. Here, the product is displayed in layered and stratified arrangements, leading visitors into various conceptually inspiring rooms.

The 3D lattice is presented inside with flat ceramic pieces from WOW collections. These pieces fit perfectly within the square interior space of the three-dimensional lattice, creating surfaces filled with playful color schemes, lights, and transparencies, representing the chromatic ranges of the seafloor over which it stands.

The layout is organized from less to more private areas, with high-traffic zones in the foreground. A circular path has been defined to separate the more private zones, located at the back.

Inside, visitors encounter a large circular opening resembling a porthole, reminiscent of underwater spaces, where various ceramic pieces are displayed on all surfaces. The floor, walls, and ceilings form ceramic canvases of color and material.

The combination of rings with the rectangular interior creates unique patterns, geometries, and lines, with voids of great singularity. The context employs coral and blue tones reminiscent of the seafloor, with warm and cool colors interwoven to arrange the rich and broad chromatic range of WOW’s new ceramic proposals.
