Situated in the populated area of Pangrati, this apartment from the 70s has been renovated to offer a large living area and 2 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms. The walls have been removed from the previous layout and the kitchen has been moved into the living area, which has been the key to creating a brighter interior. There was an interesting marble floor to re-use as a nice base that needed to be repaired. And the colour that could support the floor with a retro modern and Greek reference was this light blue of the ceiling and the kitchen's lacquered cupboards. The yellow armchair ''Reversível'' bears witness to the soft, sensuality of Brazilian 1950s designed by the architect Martin Eisler.
Some other materials that have been used are natural stone and terracotta on the kitchen's backsplash. The detail of the wooden handles creates a retro-modern look, like being in a modern Milanese villa of the 50s. The top of the dining table has been made by a re-usable sliding door made of teak wood veneer and a new mirror base. The architect's favourite marble of Tinos, has also been used to create a new sink in the bathroom, which bites into the white ceramic tiles made to measure. The rest of the bathroom walls have been painted in shiny green tones.
What was the brief?
To create a bright and modern apartment, preserving the authentic materials and atmosphere of the past.
