Sesame River Park in the suburb of Nanjing city is an important green open space for surrounding residents. In order to vivify the ordinary life and provide a public space for the community, this little white building has its right to be unique compared with other service facilities.
A geometrical order of irregular quadrilaterals and triangles can be drawn from the context of the park where the community center is located, so that the basic form of the building is created. It grows up from the landscape, emerging at the end of the entrance square on the riverbank. The building and the slops of greenery surround the square, defining its impression of space and dynamic atmosphere. The landscape of the park will be renovated together in the same geometrical order.
A series of triangular metallic roofs of the community center cover two main spaces: one as service zone and the other for public using with the largest liberty and possibility for different programs and activities. Large curtains of glass are installed on the façade to keep the transparence between interior space and the greenery of the park surrounding. The finesse of the structure is pursued to obtain the lightness and to create a dynamic horizontal contemporary figure working in concert with the river.
