Concept Gallery Amsterdam is celebrating summer with the story of the creators of Jane Motorcycles of Brooklyn NYC
On 23 June 2016, the second summer party of the Amsterdam inspiration hub for interior design aficionados will be held. During this event, founders Adam Kallen and Alex DiMattio will be talking about motorcycles, fashion, hospitality and the story behind their successful concept store. It is partly due to fans like Ryan Reynolds and David Beckham that Jane Motorcycles grew to become one of the hotspots of Brooklyn, the vibrant, creative satellite of New York City.
The idea for Jane Motorcycles was conceived when Adam and Alex were out on one of their many motorbike rides in the city, searching in vain for a place where they would feel at home. With their own concept store, they set up a haven for bikers and creatives alike. Forget the image of the intimidating biker hangout. The gentlemen have created a place where everyone is welcome to enjoy the beauty and engineering of custom bikes bearing names such as Ducati, Moto Guzzi and Yamaha, as well as a cup of coffee, clothing and art. Don’t expect to see any men with grease on their hands either; the workshop is a few miles away.
The founders both come from creative backgrounds. Adam was in fashion and commerce, whereas Alex grew up amid the roar of motorcycles before heading off to art school. Together they are responsible for the design of the store, all graphic expressions and the designs for their own line of apparel. The store owes its name to the biker girl from Alex’s youth who - contrary to all clichés - rode a dirt bike. The space functions as a gallery that offers a stage to anything that is motorcycle chic. David Bols (Concept Gallery partner): “In a time of clicks versus bricks, a store only provides added value if it offers an experience. Jane Motorcycles brings a story to life”.
The Concept Gallery has been acting as a design platform, set up by partners from synergistic product groups, since 2014. They pool their strengths to provide the highest level of inspiration to professional interior designers as well as consumers and through the platform they organise regular events around innovative interior stories from all over the world. The Concept Gallery combines the latest furniture from Thonet, designer floors from Senso, rugs from Limited Edition, a custom kitchen from Julia and lighting from Oligo with a loft-like interior. Visitors are welcome to come along for advice and to place orders.
