We live in a hinge period as a society between fragmentation and an invitation to integration. These issues are now being discussed more than ever at a global level and in Argentina. Different branches of art express their thinking and feeling about it.

This contest is an invitation to reflect with architecture, commitment and sensitivity about what our attitude is and how to approach social differences and how to resolve them. We understand that it is a great opportunity for architecture to lend itself to service, reflect and represent an invitation to all for reflection, that this project be a SYMBOL of what happens and what we want as a society. Achieve human union and empathy!

Since the implementation, the project has been compacted and withdrawn, freeing a large part of the land to generate an integrated plaza. The building opens from the access, main hall, to this great square that unifies the different accesses of the region, in order to sew the city in a neighborhood meeting point. This square would act as a unifying zonal NUCLEO of the tourist route.

We understand that this building must be a strong sign of the topic to be addressed, INTEGRATION. That's why they thought of a skin, a blanket, a veil that covers the entire building. This represents our inability to see things as they are and integrate as a society denying the reality of others.

This skin opens with an aesthetic and subtle gesture in the access to the main hall from the square, thus representing an invitation to reflection and to OPENING among all citizens. It is the OPENING THAT JOINS US, DISCOVER US and discover the city. Lift that blanket that blinds us to discover the hidden, the denied. The right attitude to open up to others. Remaining a bright lighthouse that looks at the square, allowing itself to be discovered by those who inhabit and pass through the area. The project must, wants and is the symbol of this. The building itself is a sculpture that speaks for itself.


The building is developed on 3 floors plus an accessible terrace. It is divided into two major activities: the auditorium and the rest of the cultural center. The integration of these activities occurs on the ground floor with a foyer integrated into the hall of the building, although they can operate separately. On the ground floor are the most public programs, such as the hall, sale of handicrafts, exhibitions, cafeteria, cafeteria, kitchen classroom (which can work in conjunction with the cafeteria as a food court in some situations), foyer and auditorium. On the first floor is the library and classrooms with expansions to a terrace giving the reserve generating a space for reflection and tranquility. On the second floor are the large classrooms (2 of office and one of dance). The third floor there is an exit to an outdoor terrace with green roof where you can do activities linked to the classrooms with views towards the reserve and the neighborhood. Each plant has its toilets, changing rooms and necessary deposits. The main hall with its triple height receives with open arms everyone who enters achieving a space for meeting and recreation and various cultural activities. The new plaza generated by removing the building from the front fosters the integration of the surrounding squares and generates a new meeting point and center to host various activities.


The flexibility of uses was one of the premises when designing. The auditorium can function as a SUM and also as an auditorium for projections or theater since it has retractable tiers and panels with blinds for darkening if required. The same can work in conjunction with the rest of the building using the foyer connected to the hall as it can also work only by accessing from the square. As for the kitchen room that is on the ground floor can be opened and work in conjunction with the cafeteria generating a food court with expansion to the outside. The classrooms have folding divisions to be able to unify in case larger spaces are required. The library could function in conjunction with the flexible space on the first level as a more open reading and entertainment space. The square could also host various activities such as summer activities in the interactive fountain, food court outside with foodtrucks, outdoor screenings, theater and religious events.


The building has a strong counterpoint, on the one hand its modulated and rationalized metal structure allows a quick execution that translates into economy, as well as flexibility at the time of the expansion and to cover large lights that makes space integration possible. On the other hand, a brick skin covers the building which gives it a solid image, but at the same time sensitive because the gestures of the hall folding and brickwork gives it a texture and a malleable and plastic reading. The use of exposed brick is also integrated into the new homes that are being built as well as allowing local labor to be used since many of the inhabitants are bricklayers. The brick also has minimal maintenance.


• Vertical thermal insulation. Double wall of exposed brick, air chamber and cellular concrete block with great thermal inertia.

• Green covers. Thermal insulation in ceilings and absorption of rainwater.

• Air fireplace Facilitates the renewal of fresh air.

• Cross ventilation in all main rooms.

• Collection of rainwater on auditorium roof for irrigation and gray water

• Main areas to the north for heat gain in winter and eaves that protect from the summer sun.

• Protection of the western sun

• Entrance of natural zenithal light for hall lighting

• Renewable energies- Photovoltaic panels and solar collectors on terrace

• Little waste in construction. Metallic structure and tiles. Dry mounting

• Low maintenance. Exterior exposed brick facilitates maintenance

• Kitchen gardens for classrooms

• Trees for protection of strong winds from the south east.
