The new house stands on the site of a previous rural building which was carefully demolished to recover all possible materials, including: the original bricks, some beams and old tiles.
Materials subsequently integrated with large beams and pillars recovered from the demolitions of ancient buildings. The great theme was to be able to make the energy efficiency and anti-seismic needs of a contemporary house coexist using traditional materials and an architectural and typological language without betraying its value and spirit.
Speaking of architecture, attention was placed on the typological and spatial elements of the rural house of the Po Valley (the barn, the jealousies, the portico, the pitched roof, the Valais, the annex, the juxtaposition between the residential part and the rustic body , etc) trying to be authentically contemporary and not mimetically traditional.
