A CorTen Single Bridge has been installed in the nature reserve bordering the Cité Taffin district in Vieux-Condé (France). This 18-metre-long CorTen steel structure is one of the striking bridge models included in the Streetlife 2014-2015 Collection. The detailing was designed in collaboration with the architectural firm Atelier Nervures and the contractor IdVerde Agence de Bouchain. The FSC hardwood combined with the rusted CorTen steel affords the bridge a very warm appearance. Accessibility is enhanced due to the outward orientation of the fences, which creates extra width and aesthetic appeal. The bridge is a prominent feature which at the same time subtly blends with the natural landscape.
Single CorTen Bridges The Single CorTen Bridge stands out due to the outwardly curved shape of the balusters, which give the bridge a wider and more accessible look and feel. CorTen Mesh panels and a stainless steel cable have been installed as infill between the balusters. This fencing solution complies with international safety standards and does not compromise the transparency of the design. Various decking materials can be applied to Streetlife bridges. In Vieux-Condé, the design team opted for hardwood Solideck®70, an attractive traditional decking system with dimensions that provide a contemporary appearance. The warm-looking wood combines beautifully with the rust-coloured fencing, and the hardwood reappears in the handrail that complements the fence. In addition to the Single CorTen fence, Streetlife also carries the Double CorTen model. This fencing system is equipped with a double set of handrails.
The Bridge Process Streetlife has many years’ experience in designing and engineering pedestrian and bicycle bridges and eagerly accepts all challenges, whether a project involves standard models from the Collection or custom designs. This is what makes Streetlife a reliable and suitable partner for a range of bridge projects. The models are designed in such a way that it is possible to deliver each bridge as a prefabricated product. The installation in Vieux-Condé for example was completed in a day!
