The new cure & care hotel Uydens Duyn in the south of the Netherlands tries to give the best care possible. For that the architect made use of lots of durable materials like Marmoleum, but also light that comes in through the roof.
De Jong Gortemaker Algra designed Uydens Duyn as a modest volume where the focus of the visitor is literally drawn in. A central arched shape connects the different levels and refers to a canyon where light from above and flowing lines create space. At the heart of the hotel through the openings in the roof the sky is visible. This creates a unique spatial experience on entering and symbolizes a warm welcome at the hotel. The reception, an ellipsoidal volume, continues as a bar. Around it lies the lounge, the breakfast room and a restaurant with a terrace on the south side.
Throughout the building, the super-durable, naturally bacteriostatic and maintenance-easy Marmoleum Striato of Forbo Flooring is installed.
