Euramax competition entry

Lorenzo Romaniello and Massimo Serra as Architects

For this project we questioned on “factory” concept real meaning, understood as source of ideas andperpetual motion of human intelligence. Therefore we questioned about what progress and evolutionmean, what development technology means in Dutch culture and we have obtained such as impressivework that involve public in a fascinating energetic and colorful explosion. The work is an energetic vortex that covers, irrepressible, all front of the factory, starting from the centerwhere includes gears that they are absorbed by this powerful whirlpool. The idea of vortex was used torefer on spiral shape, symbol of life such as dynamic and incessant flow. The energy expands throughintense and bright colors, as a motor has just turned on or a non-stop heart beating. This is progress: a rushof power and creativity. Intelligence and creativity, stand for the gears, are merged with dynamic vortex inorder to underline that progress should be linked with natural laws of life. The thought of flow would be also to remind to throng of sea (highlighted on the background in the use ofcolor), which is one of the most important main character in Dutch culture and history. From the beginningof civilization, human being has always a deep rush to improve and grow the place where he lives. Thisenergy never stops because it’s motor of our existence. Energy is the core of life. So, that’s why energy wasrepresented in our work that we would like to show you in this contest.
