The Israeli pavilion in the Korean International Expo exposes visitors to the wonderful and unfamiliar world of the sea, portraying the creative energy of Israeli society in it’s pursue of ocean conservation. The main installation of the pavilion is made up of over 50 pillars animated through an inner kinetic skeleton to resemble deep sea vegetation. The pillars also receive video art projections of marine life, changing the atmosphere and color of the space as the video art progresses.
In designing the space, the architects worked hard to provide visitors with a sense of wonder from the amazing, unfamiliar, alien world of the sea while providing a platform for the portrayal of Israeli tech and science. This, from a moral outlook of compassion, wonder and caring towards the natural world as an Israeli and Jewish value.
The secondary space around the main installation exposes the visitor to interactive touch screens and diverse multimedia platforms communicating the variety of Israeli activities in the field of ecology, preservation and sea life.
